Super Lift Off Road Park - Memorial Day Weekend
« on: March 10, 2016, 11:23:51 AM »
Post up if you're interested in going to the ORV Park at Hot Springs, AR over this year's Memorial Day weekend. It's probably too late to reserve an on-site cabin but there appears to be vacancy in nearby motels.

Looks like you, Phil and myself will make up the group. Not included in the count is Pratt who is interested but is having vehicle woes and probably won't make it.

Potential trip plans:

Friday 5/27: Travel to Hot Springs
Sat/Sun 5/28-5/29:  Wheel
Monday 5/30: Return travel

Let me know if these dates work for you and if you're interested in splitting a room 3-ways. I'll post prices soon.

Try and stay at the KOA Kampgrounds. They're really close and you can drive a semi-legal vehicle with no problems. Only about 1-2 miles. Being a holiday weekend, they will book up fast. You know Sam's is having their event right?

Was not aware of Sam's event that weekend at the park. If all works out we might sign up.  It would be fun to win a raffle prize from Sam's while there - too cool.

I was looking at the parks schedule to make sure they weren't having races since that was a holiday weekend. I'm a slight maybe. I'd love to go, but might not have the finances at that time.

Room rates seem to average ~$90 per night at either a motel or KOA w/o bathrooms. The KOA accommodates minimum of 4 heads per cabin  Rollin Slow, I've added you to the roster and bunked you with Swan and Xlr8n so you can retract anytime since you're undecided.

Please confirm the headcount and room counts shown below so we can get some reservations in place. If we don't reserve soon we may have to stay at different locations.

Head count:   6
   Phil (2)
   xlr8n (1)
   Swan22 (1)
   Pratt (1)
   Rollin Slow (1)

Room count:  3
   Phill (occupancy 2)
   Pratt (occupancy 1)
   xlr8n, Swan22, Rollin Slow (occupancy 3)

Based on input I reserved a 6 person cabin for 3 nights at the KOA (thanks Tony for the recommendation). Full kitchen, grill, and cooking utensils provided.Total estimated fees per person: $90 with 5 people splitting the cost.

Park fees are $55 for a season pass (cheaper than 2 daily passes)

Estimated fuel costs round trip @ 12mpg towing: $125

Estimated total trip costs, less food & drink:  $270

I'm not comfortable flat towing the jeep that far. If anyone has a lead on a trailer that I could rent or a lead on a larger trailer that could haul two rigs, I'd be happy to share expenses.

I don't have any leads on private party options but see U-haul lists their tow dolly for $55 per day and car trailer for $65 per day. Bigtex rentals seem to be a bit more pricey in comparison.
